Jingle Asks A Question
October 7, 2008Her name is Jingle and his name is Milo
and they have come home, just before Halloween like
they always do-
which is by sunset.
Only this year
their hometown is empty and the drive in where Milo asked Jingle to be his wife has fallen into disrepair and the food in the freezer at the Twilight is rotting away in the darkness
just like the rest of the town.
Milo follows Jingle through the empty streets and he is almost afraid to look at her, but he stops her and puts his hand on her shoulder and turns her around and she says, ” where is everybody Milo? “
And both of them stop and listen to the silence, waiting for an answer and the silence does not answer them back.
Not this time.

And both of them stop and listen to the silence, waiting for an answer and…. from the treetops comes a soft whisper and Jingle and Milo smile at one another and know that the drive in is all deserted because they are all perched high in the mountain tops in the Sanctuary of Mnemosyne remembering whatever it is they need to remember.
And then there are talking stones, with poetry engraved that give hints and tell you that Japanese people were put in camps in America for being Japanese, and children were put in camps in Australia after being on boats to escape things, and the talking stones whisper and whisper to try and break through the silence (:
(Hi AM just letting you know what I think of when I see your story).
