if sadness be a seed

November 13, 2006

If sadness be a seed, I plant it.

And if I plant, what then?

To watch and wait till tiny tendrils,

Grope their way toward light?

If sadness be a seed, what fruit will form from bud?

Some gnarly, warted, juiceless fruit

As bitter as its selfsame root?

If sadness be a seed, I eat it.

  1. Poigant and powerful both.

  2. Luckily, sadness is only a part of the journey through life and not life in its entirety. One of the very same seeds of sadness may bear the sweet fruit of happiness one day.
